  • 40hp 2 stroke power loss

I have a 1999 40hp TLR that will plane off and run fine but after about 5 min then it losses power and Boggs down. I have rebuilt the carbs and cleaned them again new fuel tank lines ect, if I run it with the cover and spark aprester off and put my hand over the #1 carb it springs back to life, in fact i put duck tape over 2/3
Of the carb intake on #1 and it runs fine all day. I wondering if I should spend the $500 and replace the CDI, also wonder about the electronic fuel enrichment valve, I have tried moving the red bypass and it seems that to change ?. I have read other post with this issue but never really felt like anyone has solved it, and no I can buy a lot of duck tape for the cost of a CDI but I am willing to spend the $ if it has a chance of working.

by restricting the air into #1 you cause it to enrich the fuel air mix in that cylinder and it fires, so why would you think changing the CDI would do any good?

Check fuel pump to make sure it is pumping as it should and chek to see if it is sucking air some where.
Poaible the top carb would run out of fuel before the lower ones if there is a supply issue I guess
