        oil leak

seems like its coming through where the crankshaft cover and engine block meet.

oil pump leak wont enter the cowl.
it can be looked at under the lower pan at the tiller area.

would not be the first crankcase cover to block leak I have seen,
the balancer can leak as well.
clean it off well with simple green or something.
go to napa and get the ultra violet oil detector and add it to the oil.
run the motor and inspect with a black light.

ATF had it in it for many years, but I have no idea if it still does.
Using a black light was in the manuals back in the 70s for looking for leaks in auto trans in automotive vehicals.

An additive to put into most any oil system makes sense.

it seems like a great diagnostic tool

although I don't know where to get a "black light" today ?

                    I had one,

but I let it go when I divested the last of my velvet painting "art collection"

                    ahh, those were the days.....

You can buy CFL black light bulbs most anywhere and install them into any light fixture they will fit into, or buy a hand held specialty light for getting into tight places.

                      But those were great days
But I preferred drinking as I could keep going,
other things affected to where I did not want to do anything

Old age you start to leak everywhere. That's why my grandchildren say old people stink.

The additive is also added to refrigeration systems and sometimes plain gas lines to detect the smallest of leaks with "black" (contradiction or oximoron) lights
