Help on proper identification

I bought a Yamaha Enduro 40
Engine plate:
E40JE
6J4L401675

Can you help me in to find the year model and the proper user manual?

The model is E40JE. 1996 model year motor.

This particular model appears to never have been offered in the USA. It was offered in Canada and other countries. You might try Yamaha Canada to see if they can provide a copy of the owner's manual.

To some extent the E40 will be somewhat similar to the C40 that was distributed in the US. Maybe take a look at the owner's manual for the C40 to see how similar it is to your specific model.
