  • F115 cable not connected in bottom of motor housing

I have 2 Yamaha each with this blue connector/cable not connected. I do not know what they are use for. Does anyone know what I'm talking about. The cable lies in the bottom of the motor on the left side facing forward. I can't seem to copy a picture into this forum to show.

only blue connector I can think of on the lower port side would be the shift position switch connector. if disconnected RPM may be limited to about 4300.

        This should help identify.

The wire colors are black and blue/yellow. here is pic of that wire.

Looks like the connector for the shift position switch. The wire colors lead me to believe this.

Thanks for your response. So my question is since both engines have this not connected and the engines have been running fine do I leave them disconnected and what would the impact be if I did connect them? I have standard LCD yamaha instrument for each engine.
