Hard starting

Hi Guys; NEW to boating world.Just purchased 1999 75hp 2 strokeThat won't start unless I prime .Once engine starts every think runs as should.Any suggestions as what my problem might be? Thanks;

That is exactly what is needed.

Your model has carburetors that use choke plates that are activated either manually or electrically.

Have you inspected the carburetors to verify that the choke plates close when either the choke knob is pulled and/or the key/toggle choke switch is activated?

With the choke plates closed try starting with the throttle handle straight up. If that does not work as you might like then try advancing the throttle handle just a tad, with the engine not being shifted into gear.

do not even try to start it cold at a dead idle.
good way to pop fuel pump diaphrams.
that motor needs to start cold at about 1100-1500 RPM with the choke set.
