  • Substitude for Locktite 518?

    Hello Folks

I am replacing the lower oil seal on my T9.9 four stroke. it started to leak after only 200 hours of use! I can't imagine why.

    Anyway....

The service manual says to use Locktite 518 to seal the crank case to the block.

But Yamaha no longer offers Locktite 518 and I can not find it locally. Finding it in the USA and having it sent down here to the Caribbean will run about $100 for shipping and take at least a week to get to me.

Can anyone offer a few different alternatives for this application that I can try to find down here?

Finding stuff down here is a challenge so if anyone knows of any substitutes for Locktite 518 I will start searching for it locally.

    Thanks Folks!

    someone wrote on Amazon

"Permatex 51813 Anaerobic Gasket Maker is the same product as Loctite 518 (as a matter of fact Permatex & Loctite are the same Company),but at a much lower cost. "

(there were ~5,800 Google hits for "Locktite 518 equivalent)

sorry, did not mean to be un-helpful.

And I did not realize how spoiled I am in the USA

Amazon Prime will bring the 6 ml tube to my house, in two days, for $7

or the 50 mL for $7.99
