2013 Yamaha F300 1200hrs
I've been experiencing this weird surging that only happens around 1000-1400RPM. I went thru the entire troubleshooting guide and everything points to the VCT or OCV or maybe a intake leak, it almost acts like either the timing advances or the motor goes lean. Acceleration and WOT is fine.
I have a YDS and it doesn't show any error codes as well. I also ran some of the YDS tests and tested OCV valves, ISC,TPS. Filters have all been changed. I believe the YDS will show intake pressure which may give away any leaks but I havent tested it in the water. I've owned Yamaha 4 strokes for the last 20yrs and they are very reliable and 99% of the problems are usually fuel related but this one has me stumped. It runs fine other than the surging (slight up/down increase in rpm).
