  • Activating starter solinoid with the ignition key harness disconected.

I have a T9.9 Yamaha. It has Electric Start and is wired with a remote ignition key harness and remote shifter/throtel.

I want to cycle the solinoid and electric start with the ignition key harness disconedted.

I Belive the procedure below is correct.

To Activate the starter solinoid with the ignition key harness disconected.
Connect the engin battery leads to a 12V batter. Positive to positive terminal.
Disconect the brown lead that goes in to the starter solinoid. Attach a wire, that has an aligator clip on one end, to the bullet end of the brown lead. The end that gose into the solinoid. Touch the other end of the wire to the positive terminal of the battery.
The solinoid should activate and the electric start should engage.
As soon as the motor starts remove the end of the aligator clip wire from the
positive battey post to disengage the starter.

Can any one verify that the procedure below will work. or am I missing something.

    Please let me know.

    Thanks in advance.

it should work on most motors( not sure on 4 strokes though),
but you need to have a way to turn the motor off planned before starting it.
Probably grounding the white wire to CDI is the usual way
