so, so I notice a little bit of white crust (I boat in saltwater)
accumulating down at the bottom of the hose
which conducts the water exiting the thermostat
down to where it re-enters the block.
using several long handled/ nosed pliers I remove the little factory zip tie
and install another - (this is what they call arthroscopic surgery?)
the salt accumulation seems to abate.
So I'm good for now.
but it appears, to my eye,
that this “elbow / hose barb” that the hose attaches to,
is made of some kind of “fiber reinforced plastic”
when I check the yamaha part fiche:
the hose is identified as a spare part (# 31)
but NOT this “elbow / hose barb" that the hose attaches to
so, if I were to somehow break that ("plastic" ?) part
it doesn’t seem particularly robust -
I would have to replace the entire engine block?
