  • no alarm at any time

I have an SX225TXRZ with a 704 remote and i am not getting any alarms even on initial start up . Would the correct procedure be to test this alarm which i believe is under the 704 remote cover and is the testing limited to attaching pos and neg leads to confirm?

try pulling the kill switch and then turning key to start, some motors will sound buzzer when that is done.

But yes you should be able to test the buzzer itself by putting 12 Volts+ and - to it with it disconnected

If you just want to hear the horn pull the kill switch and then crank the motor. It won't start and the alarm should sound.

The buzzer is behind the key switch panel. You can apply 12 volts positive to the yellow lead and a ground to the pink lead and the horn should sound.

If you want to check the oil warning system remove the plastic sump from the engine mounted oil tank and drain all of the oil. Put the oil in the remote boat mounted tank. Make sure the tank has plenty of oil. Reattach and secure the plastic sump. Turn the key to the On position. The alarm should sound. The pump should come on and start pumping oil from the remote tank to the main tank. Once the main tank gets about half way full the alarm should stop. If you have a digital display Yamaha tachometer you should see the low oil icon flashing.
