  • F150 vacuum

I was going to follow the instructions to Synchronizing the throttle valves on my 05 F150 TLRD due to my erratic idling. But when I hooked up the Vacuum gauge the vacuum was bouncing everywhere on all four Cylinders.
I sure this a problem so Please be gentle

    special test equipment.
Expensive but they do have snubbers to calm that down

the pressure in the runners is not constant. Have it done by someone who knows these engines. synchronizing the throttles has to be Done through yds and by following the procedure in the service manual.

        dunno.
never used a tech mate to sync an F150.
        its not needed.

rodbolt, how do you sync the throttle valves? I have always thought that the ISC valve needed to be fixed. I have this piece of paper at the workshop that shows this but I can't seem to find it in the SM.
Either that or my brain is letting go...

I think it is from a newer service manual that I downloaded but don't have on me, will update on Monday but until then I'm completely full of shit...

the procedure is in the manual but it doesn't work well.
you basically fully close both shutter sets, then use the lower screw until it takes up on the upper set.
then use the upper screw until the TPS voltage hits the required spot.
from there I will usually continue opening the shutter sets until the TPS is about .76-.78V.
then I reset the TPS manually to about .72V.
when running now the ISC should be in the 40% range not the 60+% range.

but I have never used a vacuum gauge to set up the F150, only EFI fourstroke I can think of that requires it is the older F200/225.

Are you saying that even the new procedure does not work well?

Probably works somewhat, but this is the way Rod got his to stop stalling on him I believe

the tech bulliten procedure works better than the SM procedure.
                      experience works better than both.
I figured mine out back in 07. its rather embarrassing to be wearing a master tech hat and the stall
alarm going off when trying to maneuver.

Which SM procedure? The original one or the latest one?
