Yamaha 90 4 stroke cutting out at high RPM

I have a work skiff with two 90hp 4 stroke OB's. The port OB cuts out at higher RPM's (from 4000 down to 2000) varies. It cuts out for a few seconds and kicks right back in. Runs okay for a minute and cuts back out. I checked filters, fuel pump, all look good. It's almost like the choke engages for a second. When I put back in neutral, the engine dies (sometimes). When i start it back up, it idles perfectly and will run at high RPM for about 30 sec before cutting out again. Any ideas?
