2005 F115 water from small holes in lower unit both sides

I have a 2005 F115 that I was flushing with muffs.
i notices 4 holes on the starboard side of the lower unit and two holes on the port side that were discharging water.
my telltale discharge was fine and lower unit oil clean.
Is this normal?
This motor is new to me and I have never noticed this before.

that's normal, nothing to be concerned about

the metal casting of the lower unit has numerous "cavities"
surrounding the water pump -
each of which has a small hole so that water can drain away -

that's what you are seeing
