  • Yamaha 150 water pump concerns

Put the water flushing muffs on to flush the motor after a fishing trip and had a hard time getting water to come out the pee hole. Squeezed the muffs together and water started to come out. Bought a new set of muffs and it worked one time . Split the bottom unite inspected the water pump, impeller looked great(It had been changed out last year) changed it out any way
. Still same thing have to squeeze the muffs together to get water to come out. Have never had to do this is the past. What could have changed????

as 99yam says the impeller is not the only part that can wear and affect cooling.

Tap pressure could have changed. if it pumps fine when in the water I don't believe you have a problem.

Another thing to look at, are you turning the water on all the way, I have found that great water pressure will push the muffs away from the pick ups causing it to suck air, only turn the water on as hard as you need to.
