1997 C90 Choke Question

1997 C90 TLRV

My engine is hard to start when cold, but it will fire right up when warm. Did the 1997 C90s have the automatic choke feature? Or is the choke activated by pressing in the key? When I press the key in, I don't hear the telltale "click" in the carburetors. .

It has an automatic fuel enrichment device referred to as PrimeStart by Yamaha. It is completely silent. You won't ever hear it working. The push to choke function on some key switches/switch panels does nothing for this device.

The carburetor may very well have an over ride knob that if turned to the OFF position renders the fuel enrichment function inoperative.

Thanks Boscoe. I am familiar with the location of the "Primestart" on my engine. Is there any way to test that it's functioning properly?

My engine has the "Emergency Start" valve. When I pulled the cowl, the little red lever is in the up position, not in open or close.



Should it be closed? Thanks
