  • 30 ELRZ (2001) Shift Cam Removal & Installation

While changing the impeller on my Yamaha 30 ELRZ, the lower end slipped from my hand. While trying to catch it, I broke the shift cam rod. I was able to remove the plastic bracket adn rubber boot from around the shift cam rod which allowed me to pull the rod with the steel triangular thing (cam follower??) attached completely out. I'll have to purchase a new rod and boot, but how do I install it properly? Hopefully, I don't have to totally disassemble the gearbox (prop shaft, bearings, etc.)? Pictures are attached.

    Thanks - Mike

I have not done one of those 30s,
but looking at the parts break down I would imagine the carrier and prop shaft would need to come out to get it back together properly, being spring loaded.

A service manual would probably give you a better view and procedure.

Wait on Rodbolt or someone else that has knowledge on this to be sure
