Currently swapping motors on my boat and installing 2002 Yamaha 115hp 4 stroke. On the main 10 pin harness from a previous boat that I owned many years ago, there’s only 9 wires, the pink wire (alarm audible) is missing but has not been cut or removed. Should I not use this harness?

For want of a nail a shoe was lost. For want of a shoe a horse was lost. For want of...

Well I bought another harness and installed it on my repower project.
Curiosity got me as to why the pink pin didn't have connectivity at each end so I cut and split open the harness and discovered that there was indeed a pink wire and that it was cut and the two ends were about 4" apart. The wiring debacle was from the factory. Must have been made on a Monday or by a disgruntled employee. Glad I checked the pin's connectivity before installing on the motor .

nope.
over the years that so called 10 pin has been made from 5, 7,9 and 10 pin.
why I don't know.
some of the early stuff had no wires for trim, key on 12v and alarm cause the engine did not use it.
its odd but once you get on the wway back machine , it makes one wonder.
