  • auxiliary charging circuit?

    Thinking of using the auxiliary charging circuit from my 200 HPDI’s to a house battery. The current set up has 2 starting batteries. I’ve seen the wiring diagrams but have some questions. The positive goes from the motor to positive battery lead, but does the negative house battery connection go from the house to the negative on each starting battery or to a single existing battery? Will using the auxiliary lead decrease the charging amps delivered to the starting batteries?

    regardless of whether the Aux lead is being used,
    the negatives of all batteries should be connected "in common"

    (excepting of course, a battery whose negative connected "in series"
    to another's positive, to obtain 24 or 36 volts)

    whether that common negative is achieved
    by connecting each battery to a "ground bus",
    or 'daisy chaining' the negatives doesn't matter;

    note that any battery which you may use for cranking the engine
    must have its negative connection pathway, to the engine ground,
    of large enough cable to support high cranking amps.

    Using the Auxiliary output will not decrease the amps delivered to the starting batteries.

    By the way, a modern EFI engine, in good condition,
    should start with minimal cranking -
    less than one second, couple of seconds at most.

    Although a large number of amps flows,
    the short duration consumes a trivial amount of battery capacity;
    and the starting battery should be fully re-charged
    within the first few minutes of the engine running.

        Danny looking to do the samething how was it running the wire from the motor to the battery compartment throug the rigging?
