Hello, This is my first post here but hope not my last. My yamaha does not want to go into reverse gear anymore and noticed that when placing the reverse handle back the bottum cowling comes up a bit, so thought the grommets need to be replaced. I got the old ones out with pliers but can not place the new grommets, there is not enough space between the newly placed grommets and the threaded part to place the "collar". I can't push the bottom cowling up enough to create enough place to put te collars in the grommets.Any ideas ?

If you are talking about the lower cowling attach fasteners and related hardware, the block has to be removed to gain access.
