Hi guys,

I have a new starter motor installed that is still causing problems. Should the starter pinion turn in both directions or should it lock in one

kellaig,
The starter pinion gear should freely rotate in ccw direction. In the cw direction it should spiral up the starter shaft and lock when it hits the pinion stop - at this point, if you keep turning it, it should rotate the starter shaft.
