115HP oil pump installation question

Just installed a oil pump conversion on my 1985 115hp. All went well but before firing up I was hoping to see some oil pumped just cranking. Put oil lines on pump output ports and cranked but no oil. Took one line off pump port but still don't see any oil. Supply line is connected and tank has oil. During installation paid attention that slotted drive shaft fitted with new drive shaft.
Am I being overly cautious? Really don't want to disassemble what I have put in place.
Any help appreciated.

did you see anything in service manual about bleeding the air out and using pre mix until you make sure the oil is flowing?

I don't have a service manual. The installation sheet didn't say anything except filling the supply tubes before using motor.

you bleed the pump per service manual then run the next 10 gallons or so on premix to verify oil consumption.

Problem resolution

Thanks for the input. Original question about seeing some oil while cranking but not running motor; answer is no you don't see any output at that low of speed. I finally thought through the problem and after putting all the parts together, ran the motor with premix long enough to finally see oil at the carb. Took about 3 minutes running at around 2500 rpm.

Note on doing this job, it can be a bugger due to tight working spaces. If motor out, would be easy. Tool supplied to insert and set a bushing for the new pump support was too tight to work with. Had to shrink down the diameter of tool with 400 grit emery paper and some wd40. Check valves difficult to insert in old lines attached to carb. Had to use end of Phillips to resize the line. Would be a help in installation doc would have mentioned the bleeding of the pump and running on premix.

If you got any installation instructions at all from Yamaha, consider yourself very lucky.

On the other hand, given that Yamaha instructions can be incomplete or incorrect, maybe not.

Sometimes it is better to have nothing to work with than crap to work with.
