  • Fuel/Water filter 4" vs 8" model...is the smaller one okay for my F115?

Hi, I ordered a fuel/water separating filter, thinking that I was going to get the larger version, but I received the smaller version. The smaller one says it is for 115HP and under, and I have a F115TXR, but also, it looks like the hole for the threads is larger on the smaller filter. Anybody know about the differences between these two, and if I can use the smaller one? I don't want to take off the packaging to try it unless I'm sure it will work.

Are you saying the filter you ordered has a larger threaded opening than the original? Or the threads look different? If the hole is larger you can’t use it. Old school.....OMC has the big hole and pretty much all others have the small hole. Odd conversation.....

      Yamaha offers two different filters
the common "Big Blue" and the smaller "Mini 10"
they have different threads and so use a different "head"

there are only about a thousand thread-on filter "standards"

here are the more common for small boats

IMO, if you can get (and have the room) for a filter with the clear, drainable "cup", I'd get that.

You'll see any water in the bottom and can simply drain it right there with the turn of a screw (located on the bottom of the cup).

There's NO guessing if there's water in there, you can see thru it:

        * BTW, my aluminum transom mount originally had a small (no cup) filter on it.
