  • 2005 15msh Shift Rod Replacement

I just bought a 2005 2-stroke 15msh that runs great, but wasn't peeing enough water. Changed the impeller which had two broken fins. The problem is, the barrel nut was seized to the upper shift rod and when trying to break it free I broke the plastic connector at the top of the shift rod. I know I need to replace the shift rod, barrel nut, and plactic connector, but how to get clearance to do so? Do I have to remove the power head to do this? If so, how complex is that and will I need to order any gaskets?

yes power head needs to come off,
    yes gaskets will be needed,
if the shift rod link was froze up, it is very likely power head bolts might be also.
I would take apart before ordering any parts, just to see what all will be needed if you can get it apart
