I double-checked my measurements on prime start plunger / seat clearance & found I had made a mistake, I have .100" clearance at ambient temp., so I disassembled pump assy., cleaned passages [ no varnish, crud or debris found, this is a low-hours engine] reassembled & tested. Same results, wouldn't start normal, turned manual enrichment on, started. I don't know factory prescribed starting procedure, but it has always started fine with all controls set at idle. Just ordered diaphragm for enrichment pump.
