Hello. I have Yamaha 40 outboard, I don't know exactly which year and I don't know serial number either. Bought it recently and this is my first outboard. Problem is that I think some wrong parts are fitted on it, because when throttle cam starts to act on carburetors, ignition is already fully advanced. I can't adjust that, because my adjustment rod is too short, besides manual says it has to be around 96 mm. When ignition advancement rod is around 96 mm, when I pull ignition tu fully retarded position, throttle cam is not even touching carbs. I think it is ar least 5mm from carburetor actuator. I have no idea how to know what exactly is not right.Maybe it should be like that? I found some photos from other similar outboards where throttle cam is touching carbs when ignition is fully retarded. As I looked in parts catalog, there are many variations of that throttle cam. Only thing written on mine is 6h4-4. Here are some photos of my engine and throttle cam. Maybe someone can help me just by looking on these pictures. Thanks
