  • 2012 f225 trim tilt issues

have two new f 225s . 265 hours total engines mounted on grady white 28'. boat is docked. engines are left up when not in use usually during the week. when I lower motors the tilt cylinders will retract completely but the trim cylinders stall as the trim motor continues to run. I have to exercise the motors up and down to get them to lower completely using the individual toggle switches, after which they function fine. mechanic looked at one of the motors and changed an internal part in the trim cylinder last year but they are still misbehaving. what gives?

Not sure exactly what you are describing.

It is normal to tilt the motor full up, lower the latch/lock and then to hold the down trim button until the trim pistons retract into their respective cylinders. It won't happen right away, the trim button has to be held down for what might seem to be a long time, but it is not.

Is this what you are doing?

Obviously when the motors are to be used the motor has to go to the full UP tilt position so the latch mechanism can be retracted. Then the motor is tilted down until it is on the trim pistons. The system should operate normally from that point onward.

if the fluid level is ever low you have a freaking leak.
      fix it.
its a sealed system, kinda like your blood if you leak fix it or you will need a transfusion.
but do not expect both trim systems to work at the same speed, its just not going to happen.
