has anyone on here ever put 40 tohatsu carbs on a 25 yamaha 3 cylinder. i know they will bolt right up but am not real sure if i need to modify the intake manifold. i have read two different things. some say not to modify the intake and some say it needs to be modified. im not real sure what exactly needs to be modified, i was thinking that it should be opened up the same size as the 40 carbs but would like to know from someone that has done it.

what you need to do is study WHY an articulated rod internal combustion engine works.
you simply cant bolt on larger carbs and expect anything less than a headache.
that engine is a simple air pump.
however to get more air in AND out requires different reed openings, different port timing and different ex tuners.
