when I went to drain the lower unit I got a bit of water when I removed the screw on the bottom, the oil that followed did not seem to be contaminated. It was not milky white. What would cause this and do I need new seals or what? Thanks for any help

    I just resealed MY C40TLRX.
Last year I found milky oil so I changed it a few times, waiting for the winter so it would not interrupt my fishing.

when I drained it a couple of weeks ago I found the clear water and then clear oil come out.

After draining I pressure tested the unit as the manual calls for and air was coming out of all of the shaft seals.
so I replace all of the seals and o rings.
it holds the 14 psi now

you should pressure test yours and see what all is leaking.
good luck pulling that old lower unit apart
