2011 F90TLR 4-stroke motor runs great at idle and at slower rpms, but won't come up to speed. Highest I can get at wide open throttle is 3800 rpms, 11MPH and boat won't come up on plane. I bought boat used a few months ago and discovered fuel was full of trash and debris. Since then I have drained and cleaned the fuel tank, replaced all fuel, replaced all fuel hoses from uptake hose in tank through main fuel line in motor. Replaced water-separator. Cleaned all fuel injectors. Motor ran great for 2 hours (1 day of testing) and since it is back to the same thing. When motor is running on wide open throttle, it gets as high as 3800 rpms but then it starts backing down until it is only 3300 or so rpms at wide open throttle. Any ideas?

Based on past and current experience, your VST filter is clogged up and will probably clog up several more times in the future. I'm switching to the Racor 2 micron fuel water separator as soon as I get my 2005, F90 out of the shop. Yamaha four strokes are notorious for VST issues. The VST filter is a one micron filter, think about that when all of the filters on the way to the VST are ten micron. If the VST wasn't in the middle of the engine and was a little more accessible it wouldn't be such a big deal. Average dealer cost to replace the VST filter is from $400 to $600. It doesn't take to many of those to have you saying ugly things. From what I'm seeing on the internet the new Racor filters are cutting down on VST issues. All of this is just my opinion. My boat has been in the shop since 2 June and the dealer told me they had a ten day backlog when I turned it in. My troubles started when my non-ethanol resistant fuel lines disintegrated three years ago. I've had constant problems since. Its apparently very difficult to filter all of the greater than one micron debris out of a fuel system.
