  • replacing tilt piston sub assy. Yamaha 220 4 stroke

When I replace assembly do I add fluid to the housing before I inset new assembly. Do I have to worry when I remove old assembly that it is under pressure. What is the best way to remove retaining nut holding assembly in housing

What year and model? A 220 HP??

Put the engine all the way up and rest it on the mechanical/physical flip lever at the upper pivot point. That will support the engine.

That will allow the entire unit to come out for maintanance.

If the nut your referring to is the retaining nut for the RAM, they make a special tool to grab inside the four holes.. Some have used a punch to loosen it but do so at youe own risk.. (regular thread BTW)
