98 yamaha 40 hp 2 stroke wiring issue

I bought a boat with a 98 yamaha 40 hp and the p.o. has the tilt and trim set up on a toggle switch and to start the motor he has a push button. He has two wires running from the solenoid to the push button. I'm looking for a wiring diagram for the engine so I can see what needs to be properly re-wired or would it be possible to just replace the 703 remote and everything should work. I take it the P.O. didn't want to buy a new remote since they're kinda pricey. Thank
