tilt control

I just purchased a used yamaha 1997 2stroke 50hp with electric tilt and trim. The control that came with it is a nice 703 control with no tilt trim(up and down) switch in it. If the harness on the motor is the proper harness, should I be able to buy a switch and install it in the control handle and have it plug into the motor harness? Anyone know if this might be possible.

nope.
not a good way anyway.
the engine 10 pin harness has the trim control wiring.
the non trim box wont have but 7 pins.
you could run a separate 3 wire lead with a fuse to a switch but its going to look jury rigged.
