  • engine alarms with dual station

I've had an engine alarm problem for a year with my year 2000 250hp Yamahas. The alarms appear to be associated most often with the boat jarring in choppy conditions but not always. It has never happened at non-planing rpms. I do not get any associated oil or overtemp indications on the gauges, and the alarms stop when I shift to neutral. Both alarms go on at the same time and both engines rpm reduce. Had it to the dealer who was unable to discover the cause and has stated that I don't have an oil or temp problem. I was just reading the Yamaha dual station owners manual, which states that there are alarms associated with that system with either a shift fault or an electrical fault. In the six years I've owned the boat there were about three occasions when I was unable to shift the starboard into gear but repeated movement of the shift lever cleared the problem each time. When I get my alarms I am not getting any shift problems though. Anybody have any ideas that could help me solve this problem?

That could be a tough one to find but the shift alarm on dual station is con*****ed by the neutral switch's in control box and shift actuator and the control module in shift actuator. Check elect connections, shift cable adjustments and verify all neutral switch are working( shift into gear and try to start engine).
