40VETOL power trim oil top up

How do I top up the oil in my 40VETOL power trim/tilt unit.
When tilting up it takes some time before it starts to move. It whirs loudly as it starts moves very slowly then moves normally.
I was told that it needed more fluid in the tilt/trim.

I found an online service manual for this model which clearly describes the process for checking and topping up the oil.
