  • water flow direction 1991 pv150

Recently replaced thermostats and found small 1/8 inch pieces of old impeller rubber hung in thermostats springs. I did not think to flush passages at the time and did not check pressure valve.. Engine runs fine and piss hole appears fine. Was just wondering about water flow direction through motor. Should I go back and check the pressure valve?

Maybe I did not ask question right. Was trying to ask if water from pump goes to stats before or after PV. Trying to guess if stats would have trapped larger particles and so PV is probably clear or PV is made in a way to not trap particles anyway. Or is PV a similar spring loaded mechanism like stats where particles would hang up also?

Good idea to inspect them all just to be sure they ae all OK.
From what I understand the PRV is before running through the block, as they say if the prv sticks open it will dump too much water a low RPM and the block will not fill all the way

I did inspect the Pressure Valve and it did have one small piece of rubber in it. The PV did not appear to be stuck but it was dirty and gummed up. I cleaned it up and rubber grommet and plastic valve was in good shape. I just replaced the cover gasket and put back together.
