  • My assumption. Am I correct?

Let's say I am riding along in my boat with F150 at about 5000 rpm. Someone removes a battery cable from active battery. Will the motor shut off immediately? I assume it will.

I would think it would fry things just like a bad connection at battery

A motor with a CDI ignition system will continue to run just fine. My Mercury carbureted two stroke did not even have a battery.

A motor with a battery/coil ignition system will also continue to run. But if you use the trim switch it will die.
