what are the ups and downs of ring free. Also if it is a good thing to use and the engine has never had ring free added to it's gas, is the shock treatment a good thing to do on a 5 year old engine

You can use Ring Free in all engines 2 and 4 stroke. Use the shock treatment to clean carbon off of piston, rings and cylinder then use the constant teatment after that. If you have a four stroke engine change engine oil and filter after shock treatment. If you have a V6 EFI engine it will help keep the O2 sensor and fuel injectors clean. It's good stuff and worth the money.

Current fuel additive cause coking which will cause rings to stick in the piston grooves. Normally they expand to seal properly. If they doon't expand the piston slaps sloppily in the cylinder causing scoring and eventual loss of compression. Ask me how I know. $1500 later I got smarter. Is it worth it? You bet
