ox66 oil pump lever stiff

I was adjusting the oil pump and checking the flow on my 250 ox66 today. The lever moves back and forth smoothly, but if i let it sit in the wot position it gets stiff half way back to the idle position. Flow checks out fine just seems strange that it gets stiff unless its constantly moving. Any ideas???

I typically don't test outputs, easier and safer checking consumption.

Do you check consumption versus fuel consumption figuring on 50:1 ratio? Im not sure my flow meters are accurate enough for that...

no.
but in the book someplace is an oil output test.
I use a graduated tube,actually a vet syringe, in the intake pipe.
