V4 100 Yamaha

I've just got back from a short trip on my rib which has. V4 100hp Yamaha.
The engine smoked really badly, and I was advised to give it a clear out. However it didn't clear. On return I noticed it ad used 10 litres of 2 stroke oil to 20 litres of petrol. What would cause this?

motor tank is overfilling and dumping into intake
oil pump seal is leaking into crank case
linkage came loose and is wide open
(but it should not use that much if linkage came loose)

Oil usage

Presumably that would also explain rough running. I reckon it's the oil tank over filling, but why would it do that. Sticky float switch?
