  • Weak 8hp kicker cable bracket

I have a 2006 Lund 1800 Fisherman with a 150 main and 8hp kicker for *****ing. Everything worked fine for the first two years then an issued popped up. When I am *****ing and make a turn the RPMs change significantly (both up and down). The problem has been isolated to a weak (flexing) throttle cable bracket on the engine. Yamaha has offered no solutions over the past few years that the dealer is aware of.

The temp fix is to have the throttle cables above the seat making one of the rear seats unusable and setting the engine speed with the carb adjustment screw. If I change the rpms using the throttle lever, the first time I turn, the rpms with be affected.

Has anyone run into this issue and come up with a solution?

    thanks,

Is it possible to make (or have made) a heavier bracket or to re-inforce the original bracket? That would certainly be the easiest.

If you could post a picture or two of the bracket thats bending/failing would help too...

Also, if it worked fine for two years, just replacing it when due may be the way to go...If its made of plastic, plastic, especially out in the sun, will break down.. Duplicating the bracket in SS or aluminum would be the way to go...
