  • 2 stroke 150 overheating

I have a 2000 2 stroke 150 that keeps overheating. The water pump seems to be working fine a steady stream out of pee hole. So I changed both thermostats but now motor overheat alarms are going off but after 30 minutes of running at 2800 rpm.The gauges are working correctly steam is coming out of the exhaust just before I shut down the motor. Any help would be appreciated.

    Theres 3 main parts

    Pump/housing
    Stats
    Prv

If you THINK all 3 are good pull and clean heads/jackets

Personally id replace the other 2

I have the same motor. Be sure and check your pop it valve.

Opened motor up thermostat's are fine replaced impeller again just in case. Which is pumping good. Ran motor on ear muffs and hose for 20 minutes no problem. Also ran port motor for the same amount of time no problem. The only difference was port motor heads ran at 110 to 115 degrees but the starboard heads ran at 155 to 160 degrees. Any help would be appreciated. Confused
