I have a 1988 seaswirl sable that i am attempting to mount a 8 hp four stroke yamaha high thrust with a panther 4 stroke motor bracket to. The thick part of the transom is half way down and only has what appears to be a 1/4" thickness above where i would really like to mount the bracket. Is the fiberglass sturdy enough to mount the engine to with a 3/4" marine plywood backing plate or do i need to go to the thicker part of the transom?
