My prop came off while using my new (used) kicker motor. Strange thing... never had anything like that happen. Heard of it happening to others. Just never me in more than 30 years of boating. Guess I needed to check the cotter pin on the motor even though the dealer I bought it from said it had just been serviced.
So, I need a new prop. It's a 2011 Yamaha F 15 that is going to be used as a *****ing motor for a ~4,000 lb boat. What's the right prop for it? I know how to prop a main motor-- based on max rpm at full throttle. But, what prop to use for a *****ing motor? I see four blade props are listed as max power/load. But, what pitch is appropriate?
Any thoughts on how I should assess the best prop for my boat?
Thanks.
