Did I read this right? The factory set timing on my motor is set for life? 2002 150 carb, outboard. Please correct me or my eyes. Thanks

the timing is con*****ed electronically.
You need to check it to make sure it is doing it correctly

if nothing mechanically breaks AND no one gets their skinners on it.

once set, the ign timing will never change.

your rig has two pulser coils that control ign timing for 4 cylinders mounted on a stator plate.
its fixed
the other two cylinders are timed by the two pulsers and the crank position sensor.
once set,ign timing is locked for life or until something mechanically breaks or someones skinners get holt of it.
