  • Parts with same description in boats.net

In boats.net part listing I find some parts with the same description same reference number but different prices and part number:

    5 6CB-13915-00-00 FILTER FUEL INJECTION PUMP 1 (REF # 19) $48.90
    5 63P-13915-00-00 FILTER FUEL INJECTION PUMP 1 (REF # 19) $40.50

Some times I find parts with all features the same but listed twice:
    7 N26-13440-00-00 ELEMENT ASSY, OIL CLEANER CYLINDER CRANKCASE 1 (REF # 30) $20.40
    7 N26-13440-00-00 ELEMENT ASSY, OIL CLEANER CYLINDER CRANKCASE 1 (REF # 30) $20.40

This is confusing in ordering and I dont know witch one should I order.

    Can anyone please explain?

the first with characters of the yamaha part number identify what MODEL in the yamaha manufacturing lineup that part was FIRST used on.
occassionally its goes back to a generator or snowmobile then used on outboards.
the second 5 characters identify the part, filter, piston whathaveyou.
the next two identify any model changes to the basic part.
the last two will indicate a color or a size.
the N26 tells me your working on a V8 yamaha, however the outboard model code for a V8 is 6AW.
tells me yamaha used that oil filter on something other than a V8 first.
the 13440 indicates its an oil filter.
the 00-00 indicates it has no supercessions or size or color changes.

when working on the V8 or the F250 I use the parts manager pro program as the parts smart program gets a bit inaccurate.
on the above engines you have to pay close attention to seriel number breaks and production date code breaks.
