LCD 1993 yamaha multi function gauge

I'm trying to hook up a fuel level sensor to the gauge.I have heard that I need to connect to the white wire & I here that I should connect to the white with blue tracer.I know that the black wire from sensor goes to ground but which wire does the red connect to.

use the white wire to a US sender.
the red will connect to the ign harness red.
its only function is a memory circuit.
