REBUILT or NOT REBUILT ??????

I just purchased a used 2004txrc 150hp. Local shop told me that it has been rebuilt by the RED sealant markings? Is this true or did YAMAHA also use RED sealant on a 2004 motor? Engine has only 200 hrs on it.

If I contact YAMAHA directly , could they tell me if work had been done using the serial /model #'s

that red stuff is an anerobic sealant.
yanaha OMC, BRP ,mercury and many others use it.
loc-tite 518 gel seal yamabond.
only way to tell if its been rebuilt would be to look at the pistons for oversize markings.
if it runs well and passes a sea trial dont sweat it.
