identifying a Yamaha 90hp ( precision blend )

Captains,
I recently purchased a boat with a 90hp Yamaha Precision Blend motor. To date I have been unable to identify year so I can purchase a lower unit. The stickers on the side are long gone and cross referencing engine parts have failed to indicate the year, and I do not want to make a money goof when I try to buy another lower unit. Any suggestions ? Thanks.

You can look at engine block to see if has numbers on it or take motor to your dealer to see if they can identify it.

You can also look to see if the engine is original to the boat. if it is use the boat year as a guide line.
