I have a 2006 which wants to stall/not plane and will not get pass 3500rpm until someone goes to the front of the boat or I trim up the motor. It is on a 975 lb v hull. My friend thought maybe there was a safety device to limit the RPM due to the torque. When it planes it reaches about 4900 rpms. I'm going to install wings, but the carbs have just been rebuilt and once it does planes it seems to run well. Any thoughts???

It only goes up to 4900 RPM. The plugs are new, the compression is 115 on all 3 cyclinders, I added marine grade fuel after pumping out the tank. I installed the wings last night and I am wondering if the prop is too big. The funny thing is last week I had 3 people in the boat and it planed every time w/o hesitation. However my daughter was in the front seat of the center console.
