When replacing head water cooling jacket caskets do you need to use a tension wrench to do the job ? and do I need to use a casket glue or marine grease to acheive a good a seal ?
Jamie,
You definitely need to use a torque wrench on the head bolts - and you need to follow the torque sequence shown in the Yamaha service manual.
The manual does not specify any kind of gasket sealer, but I would apply a thin film of marine grease to both sides of the gasket. I use Mobil 1 synthetic - very water resistant and high temp.
Good luck ,
